Design site is located in Gldani district, comprising the area between left embankment of river Mtkvari and the Railway (up to 122ha). At present the site accommodates light industry facilities; however, the area from south up to Metro station is chaotically developed dwelling zone. Present frame plan envisages development of right and left embankments of river Mtkvari. Right embankment, so called “floodplains” area will be mainly developed as recreation area, while at left embankment there will be arranged a “city of craftsmen” with different workshops and dwelling zone. Design concept also envisages planning of lateral road (connecting Agmashenebeli alley and Sarajishvili Avenue) and pedestrian bridges on the river Mtkvari.
